Security 4 Women

Lifelong economic well-being for women and financial security for women is central to the achievement of equity for women. Help raise community and government awareness about factors that affect you. By participating you will advise on national policy reform agendas relevant to economic security for women.

As part of the Federal Government's 2001-02 Budget, additional funding was made available to expand the range and engagement of women's organisations. BPW Australia (Business and Professional Women) then formed a consortium - SECURITY 4 WOMEN, with three partners: CPA Women, AFUW (Australian Federation of University Women) and AWE (Association of Women Educators).

Security 4 Women aims to evaluate the current issues facing Australian women today and establish those of primary importance.

This research will incorporate many factors that are important for women and their families that can either advance or impede women's economic security during the various stages of their lives. These may include pay equity, childcare, carer needs, retirement income equity and other appropriate and relevant issues that affect women's capacity to achieve economic certainty.

Current members of Security 4 Women include:

- Association of Women Educators

- Australian Federation of University Women (AFUW)

- View Clubs Australia (Voice, Interests and Education for Women)

- Women With Disabilities Australia

- National Association of Women in Construction

- Women in Adult and Vocational Education (WAVE)
