Honouring Women Initiative

The Honouring Women Initiative is part of an ongoing OfW strategy to increase the formal recognition of the significant contributions and achievements of women. It was launched by the Prime Minister at the Australian of the Year presentation on 25 January 2001 in Canberra.

As part of the Honouring Women initiative, a select and diverse group of high profile influential women have agreed to take on the title of honorary 'Ambassadors for the Recognition of Women' to promote awareness of the range of Australian awards and honours schemes and encourage further nominations for women.
