Outcomes of the 47th Session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women
One of the largest ever Australian delegations took part in the 47th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) in New York from 3 - 14 March 2003.Delegation members included: the Hon Jackie Kelly MP (Head of Delegation); Ambassador John Dauth; Dr Dianne Heriot (Attorney-Generals' Department); (Sex Discrimination Commissioner) Ms Pru Goward, Human Rights and Equal Opportunities Commission; Ms Sally Moyle (Sex Discrimination Unit, Human Rights and Equal Opportunities Commission); Ms Julia Gregory (Ministerial Adviser to the Hon Jackie Kelly MP); Sandra Parker, (OfW), Judith van Unen (Business and Professional Women) and Dr Gabrielle Casper (Australian Federation of Medical Women).
Several Australian women's NGOs also attended CSW as observers, including representatives of:
- International Alliance of Women;
- Women's Rights Action Network Australia;
- Catholic Women's League Australia;
- Business and Professional Women (Australia);
- Australian Federation of Medical Women;
- International Federation of University Women;
- Endeavour Forum;
- Coalition Against Trafficking in Women.
Several Indigenous women also participated at CSW as representatives of the NSW Aboriginal Land Council.
